When the Block Becomes a New Perspective™

A Claudette Renee Lyons Transformational Insight

There is a moment in every human journey when the very thing we call a block is not an obstruction at all, but the architect of a brand-new perspective.

But to see this, we must look to nature.

The Natural Dam vs. The Human Dam

Picture a dam built by a small, instinct-driven creature, a beaver gathering branches, mud, and the gifts of the forest. Its dam is alive, porous, responsive. When the water rises, the structure breathes. It bends. It adjusts. It lets the river teach it how to evolve.

Now picture a dam built by us by human hands, engineered of concrete and rebar, forged in rigid certainty.

It does not bend.

It does not breathe.

It resists the water.

It tries to control it.

At first, both dams stop the flow.

But with time, storms, seasons, pressure, and astronomical forces…

the natural dam transforms the landscape gently, working with the water.

The rigid dam transforms it by force, sometimes catastrophically.

The difference isn’t the block.

The difference is the relationship to the block.

The Internal Landscape Works the Same Way

Your beliefs, your paradigms, your inherited patterns, these are the dams inside you.

Some are natural:

The ones formed by instinct, intuition, lived experience, inner wisdom.

These blocks are flexible. They can be reshaped. They evolve with your river.

Others are rigid:

Beliefs poured from someone else’s concrete.

Patterns set in stone by culture, family, fear, trauma, or obligation.

These blocks do not flex.

They hold the water until the pressure becomes unbearable.

And when the pressure finally wins, the release can reshape your entire inner world, not with grace,

but with a flood.

So the question becomes:

Which dam is shaping your life?

The natural one that adapts?

Or the rigid one that fractures under the truth of your own power?

You already know the answer.

Your body knows.

Your river knows.

Your soul knows.

A Provocative NLP Practice to Begin Today

The Fluid Shift Technique™ A Claudette Lyons NLP Method

1. Identify one block, a belief, a fear, a hesitation, a rule you’ve been living by.

Name it clearly.

(“I must stay small.” “I need permission.” “I can’t start until I’m ready.”)

2. Ask the river question:

Is this a natural block or a concrete one?

Let your body answer, not your mind. Instinct never lies.

3. Imagine the block dissolving into something fluid.

Picture light or warmth seeping into it, making it flexible.

See it bending. Breathing. Opening just enough to release pressure.

4. Now ask:

If this block softened by just 10%, what would become possible today?

Not tomorrow. Not someday. Today.

5. Act on that 10% immediately.

Send the email.

Make the call.

Start the sketch.

Take the breath.

Step into the river.

Your internal landscape begins to transform the moment you do.

This is how your block becomes your new perspective.

This is how your river becomes your strength.

This is how your soul becomes unstoppable.
