EDM Duo Luca and Claudette Transform Billboard Chart Hit Into Celtic-Inspired Love Letter Featuring Electric Violin
SEDONA, AZ – Independent music label Zanna Records announces the release of "You Are My Destiny - Irish Love," a stirring remix that honors Irish-American heritage through the rare gift of a singer who plays violin by ear. The track features Claudette Lyons on electric violin, creating a fusion of contemporary dance music with traditional Celtic soul.
The remix reimagines the duo's breakthrough hit "You Are My Destiny," which became the only unsigned artist track on Billboard's official Spotify playlist (position #168) and reached #1 on North American College Radio Charts. This new Irish-inspired version adds layers of emotional depth through Lyons' electric violin performance, complemented by Sergio Rebello's cello arrangements and mixed by Andrei Murariu.
A Gift Recognized, A Heritage Honored
Claudette Lyons' journey with the violin began at age seven, when instructor Mr. Boardman recognized something extraordinary: she could play by ear, replicating melodies immediately after hearing them—a rare natural ability that occurs in only a small percentage of musicians.
"While the class focused on learning to read music, he told me to develop this natural ability," recalls Lyons. "He believed in this gift even when it didn't fit the traditional mold."
That belief was tested when school faculty required all students to pass a written music reading test to perform at the semester recital. Lyons, focusing on developing her ear-playing abilities, hadn't taken the test. The faculty told Mr. Boardman she couldn't perform.
His response changed her life.
"I remember sitting on the edge of my bed at home, feeling so many emotions, when the phone rang," Lyons remembers. "Mr. Boardman told my mother, 'Have Claudette choose a song. She will play a solo at the recital.' He did this without faculty approval."
That night, young Claudette performed "The Rose" as a solo with Mr. Boardman at the grand piano. The faculty was shocked. But more importantly, a musician learned what it meant to have someone believe in you—even in the face of adversity, even when it put them at risk.
From Gift to Violin, A Love Story
Decades later, Gianluca Zanna—Lyons' partner in both life and music—purchased an electric violin for her, reigniting her connection to the instrument that had once revealed her gift.
"I created this Irish version in honor of Claudette's Irish ancestry," says Zanna, CEO and Founder of Zanna Records and the production force behind Luca and Claudette. "When I gave her that violin, I knew we had to create something that honored her heritage and the journey that brought her back to this instrument."
